Wire Announce 2011 Tour Dates

More live shows from post-punk dons

Wire are set to play a series of tour dates next year following the release of new album ‘Red Barked Tree’.

Of all the band’s flung up by the post-punk era, Wire remain one of the few to continue making bewildering music. Remaining as forward thinking as ever, the band recently stirred into action once more.

Wire remain focussed on the central trio of Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey, but have added new live guitarist Matt Simms. Working on an album of new material, ‘Red Barked Tree’ is due to be released next year.

Set to be available from January 10th, Wire recently followed up news of their album with a short burst of live dates. Playing just three shows the band demonstrated that they still feel they have something to prove.

Now the London based group have confirmed details of a lengthy tour. Wire are due to spend the first four months of 2011 on the road, playing a total of sixteen countries on three different continents.

The tour opens on January 11th in Rough Trade East, with Wire previewing their new album in intimate surroundings. A short visit to Australia will be followed by a full UK tour, opening in Brighton on February 1st.

Touring around the UK, the band have also confirmed a number of Irish dates. Ending in Bristol on February 10th, Wire will then travel to the continent before flying out to the United States and Canada.

Tickets for the shows go on sale shortly.
