The Cure have designed a special guitar which you could win courtesy of Bestival.

The traditional end of the festival season, Bestival is set to return this summer with an extensive line up. Combining a carefully chosen bill with a unique atmosphere, the Isle of Wight event seems to exist in its own parallel universe.

Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated set will come from The Cure. Making their only British appearance of 2011, the legendary group rarely play festivals but agreed to make an exception.

Set to headline Bestival, The Cure have got involved with the event's hands-on ethos. Invited to design a new guitar, the band responded and the instrument has been placed as the lead prize in a new competition.

Teaming up with Schecter, only three instruments will be completed. The Cure's Robert Smith assisted throughout and the final copy will be signed by the frontman himself. In a statement Robert Smith said: "The UltraCure limited edition Bestival Curetoon Schecter is the grooviest guitar in the world!"

Meanwhile, Schecter Guitars said: “We are proud to partner with The Cure for this amazing event! These UltraCure guitars are adorned with special Curetoon/Bestival art which are destined to be a collector's item. The UltraCure, designed by Robert Smith has been his main guitar for both the stage and studio for the past 5 years!”

The winner will be chosen by Robert Smith, who will draw three names out of a hat backstage at Bestival. To win, simply text ‘Cure Guitar’ followed by the answer A, B or C to 70099.
