White Stripes Tour Film To Premiere

At BFI London Film Festival

Detroit blues two piece The White Stripes are to premiere their 2007 tour documentary at the BFI London Film Festival.

The White Stripes are a sensational live band. Emerging from Detroit the two piece seem to have a telepathic ability to swift tempo, moving from a blues drone to an all out rockin' assault in the blink of an eye.

Long harbouring a love for Canada, The White Stripes announced an unusual tour in 2007. The band claimed they would play a show in every province and territory in the country, using unconventional venues to keep to their promise.

The White Stripes played shows in schools and sheds as well as more standard music venues. Playing several remote locations, to finish the tour the band took a helicopter to a venue before playing a brief (one note) set.

Taking a film team along with them, the result if 'Under The Great White Northern Lights'. Containing footage from the shows alongside interviews the film is a unique document of a unique tour.

Film maker Emmet Malloy sketched together the film, following Jack White made good on his promise to play "from the ocean to the permafrost".

Having debuted in the United States earlier this year, 'Under The Great White Northern Lights' is now due to be shown in Britain.

The tour movie will debut at two London theatres on October 16th and 17th as part of the BFI London Film Festival. Taking place each year, the BFI London Film Festival is now one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
