White Lies Hit Number One

Epic goth-rockers White Lies have soared straight into the charts at number one with their debut album 'To Lose Your Life'.

One of the hot tips for 2009, White Lies have bubbled under for some time playing shows to ecstatic audiences. The band have released a number of singles, with 'To Lose Your Life' - the single - also soaring high up into the charts.

Also in the album chart were Kings Of Leon, who moved back up to number two with 'Only By The Night'. The top ten is dominated by the big names of 2008, with Duffy and MGMT both enjoying a resurgence, with The Scripts' eponymous debut the next highest new entry at number three.

Returning New York torch singer Antony & The Johnsons meanwhile soared in at number 18 with 'The Crying Light' - the band's first new album since 2005.
