One of the primary texts in the history of soul music gets the expansive treatment when Otis Redding's "Otis Blue" album is re-issued on April 22nd.
Originally released in 1966 the album is one of Redding's most complete statements. Recorded in little over a day, "Otis Blue" features only three original songs, alongside some truly awesome interpretations of hits by Sam Cooke and The Rolling Stones.
Containing the original version of "Respect" (later given the incendiary treatment by Aretha Franklin), as well as inspirational takes on "Change Gonna Come" (Sam Cooke) and "Satisfaction" (those Rolling Stones), "Otis Blue" is one of the essential soul albums.
Re-issued over two discs, the expanded edition will contain alternate mixes as well as live takes.
"Otis Blue" will be re-issued on April 22nd.
