Whatever happened to Weird Dreams?
The project released a sterling debut back in 2012, packed with dream pop gems, and odd psychedelic flourishes.
Singer Doran Edwards now resides in Paris, and began slowly piecing together a new record following a period of personal turmoil.
New album 'Luxury Alone' is the result, and it's a much more introspective, meditative affair.
New cut 'Calm' is online now, and it's both an aural and lyrical evocation of a process known as Autogenic Therapy.
Doran explains: “While I was lying on the floor of a house belonging to that old lady I did not know, she guided me through a process that, like a cognitive meditation, addresses parts of the body and nervous systems with statements like my heartbeat is calm and regular.”
“At this point, life really felt completely empty and ungrounded, full of grief; like an aching drone. This song guides you through the autogenic process lyrically, while the music’s dynamics transform from intimate, to ambient, to romantic, to rhythmic, representing the internal response in me to that process.”
