Scouse electro-poppers hit the road
Liverpool's finest Wave Machines are due to reach out into the provinces with their mammoth new UK tour.
Whilst Liverpool may be best known for producing shanty-pop groups such as The Coral and The Zutons, the city's music scene is right now at its most diverse for some time. Venues are popping up and, thanks to Liverpool Music Week, the city has reached a rarely held prominence within the music industry.
New acts such as Eugene McGuinness are spreading the word about the northern city, while local types such as Wave Machines just keep their heads down and continue to produce great music.
Formed back in 2007 Wave Machines blend the crunch of indie rock with the sparkle of electro. Blending dance and rock in a way that only Northern bands are seemingly capable of, the group caught our attention thanks to a series of stunning early singles.
Snapped up by Chess Club, the band's summer single 'I Go I Go I Go' was a dancefloor smash as the gates to the festival season swung open. Debut album 'Wave If You're Really There' soon followed, packed to the brim with pop potential.

The band are due to release their new single 'Punk Spirit' on August 31st. Taken from their debut album the track is a melodic delight, sure to remain trapped in your head for weeks to come.
To celebrate the release of their new single, Wave Machines are due to head out on tour. Taking in some of their furthest flung shows to date, the band will follow on from a number of acclaimed festival slots with a headline tour.
