We all love music, whether it's listening to CD's, collecting vinyls, or even gathering MP3's on a dusty hard drive; but nothing beats seeing it LIVE. Manchester's Spring King - a feral garage rock five piece - do the live thing incredibly well, so much so we thought we'd show you a vid of their latest Manchester show to prove it.
Firstly, their frontman is a drummer, singing tunefully while gasping for air and bashing the kit for all it's worth. Secondly, one of their guitarists, Pete Darlington, jolts around at the front of the stage like he's being repeatedly tasered by the anti-party police, and finally their frenetic layered vocals create impassioned hooks with the exuberance of Arcade Fire.
The whole project was created by producer Tarek Musa, whose previous work includes Jethro Fox, Chateaux, Kankouran, Stealing Sheep, Jr Sea and quite a few others. He began by writing a mixtape in a bathroom next to a toilet and then fleshed it out with the band. Their latest single, 'Mumma', is out on 3rd March through ParadYse/Transgressive and they'll be touring to launch it, so if you like what you see in the video check them out live. Also featured are Bad Breeding, a raucous punk-fuelled outfit who've been working with Tarek and will once again be playing alongside Spring King.
