Skrillex got more than he bargained for at a recent Mexico City show - when he almost knocked himself out in an onstage collision.
It was the best of times and it was the worst of times...
Skrillex is enjoying global success, the type of instantly recognisable fame which has eluded almost every other electronic artist in history. Yet with success comes the backlash, with underground fans turning the American artist into a hate figure.
So today's news burst will delight both camps. Skrillex recently took charge of Radio 1's Essential Mix, dropping in countless new cuts, edits and unreleased gems alongside his usual array of cliff-face drops, chainsaw wobble and deafening bass.
Quickly going viral, the mix has now broken records. The OWSLA label recently tweeted (via FACT) that Skrillex "got word over the weekend that @Skrillex @EssentialMix was the single most played piece of content in @BBC_Radio_1 history across all media."
However... sometimes it doesn't always go to plan. Performing at Mexico City recently, Skrillex attempted an acrobatic leap past his stage set up - and almost knocked himself out.
