Mos Def has experienced force feeding as part of a protest against the conditions of Guantanamo Bay.
The ongoing detainment of prisoners at the United States base on Guantanamo Bay has caused international concern. Accused of terrorism offences, the vast majority of those contained within the system are of Muslim faith.
The month of Ramadan has now begun, with devout Muslims across the globe undertaking a period of fasting. Numerous prisoners in Guantanamo Bay have attempted to take part in this, only to be force fed by US Army authorities.
In an effort to highlight this, rapper Mos Def has agreed to take part in a new video. Human Rights organisation Reprieve and Bafta award-winning director Asif Kapadia have taken charge of the film, which is based on leaked instructions for force-feeding at the Cuban base.
A distressing but ultimately eye-opening film, this isn't for the fainted hearted. The Guardian are hosting the video, which you can watch here.
