Midland and Joe Muggs also contribute...

Dimensions Festival have gathered a soundsystem symposium, featuring Mala, Carl Craig and more.

Soundsystem culture runs deep in British music. From its roots in reggae and Jamaican music, the system has become a staple way for new music to reach the masses.

Dimensions Festival are clearly aware of its impact, and recently organised a symposium to discuss the influence of soundsystem culture. Dance writer Joe Muggs chaired the conversation, and was joined by some very special guests.

Newcomer Midland represented the young blood, while Carl Craig used his experience at the vanguard of techno to argue the case for total immersion in sound.

Digital Mystikz producer Mala, though, was able to add something quite spiritual to proceedings. As deep a person as he is a producer, the London based artist took time out from his Cuban experiments to wax lyrical about the power of the soundsystem.

The best part? The conversation was filmed, and you can watch it below.

Dimensions runs between September 6th - 9th.
