'With God On Our Side'

Bon Iver have unveiled a beautiful, languide cover of Bob Dylan's classic protest song 'With God On Our Side'.

Written in the aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bob Dylan's 'With God On Our Side' remains one of the most potent anti-war songs to emerge from the protest era. Tracing great conflicts throughout history, the songwriter notes how each side claimed to have God on their side.

Now Bon Iver have added the track to their set list. The band are currently completing a Stateside tour, and during a concert in Portland they performed a slowed down, emotive version of 'With God On Our Side'.

Featuring a full band set up, Justin Veron sings in a lower key than usual. Backed with some beautiful orchestration, the new version has a lot in common with the arrangement Bob Dylan chose for his MTV Unplugged session back in the early 90s.
