Leicester event expands

Warpaint are amongst the latest additions to the line up for Summer Sundae Weekender.

Emerging from Los Angeles last year, Warpaint raised more than a few eyebrows. An all female line up, at times the band recalled 60s girl groups but with a far more sophisticated edge.

Live, the band were deeply seductive with their chiming guitars fusing shoegaze with a lush, almost Smashing Pumpkins feel. Releasing their debut album to widespread acclaim, Warpaint have spent the bulk of 2011 on the road.

Returning to the UK, the group have played several headline shows and will finish their current tour tonight (May 25th) in London's HMV Forum.

Recently playing Stag & Dagger, the band are now looking forward to the festival season. Confirming a number of British appearances, the four piece are set to appear at Summer Sundae Weekender.

Returning once again to Leicester's De Montford Hall the event has expanded its line up. A host of new groups are battling it out for the chance to play at Summer Sundae Weekender, with Citizen Smith and The Rassoodocks all taking part.

Meanwhile, organisers have confirmed that the fun is set to stretch on for four days. In addition to the three day outdoor event, Summer Sundae Weekender is due to take control of Leicester's O2 Academy.

Taking place on August 11th, three rooms of music will be spearheaded by Radio 1's Jaymo & Andy George as well as live performances from 80s inspired electro band Fenech-Soler, and deep disco divas Polarsets.

The night wraps up at 2am, with tickets on sale now.

Summer Sundae Weekender runs between August 12th - 14th.
