War Child Tracklisting Unveiled

Host of artists unite for charity

The complete tracklisting to the forthcoming 'Heroes' album compiled by the charity War Child has been unveiled, and will include Beck, Hot Chip and many more.

One of the most prominent charities helping children whose lives have been damaged by war, War Child have a long history of involving musicians with their cause. This new album is one of their most ambitious projects to date, uniting established artists with some of their younger counterparts.

Opening with Beck's take on the Bob Dylan classic 'Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat' what follows is a wonderfully eclectic depiction of modern music. The concept of 'Heroes' is that musical legends nominate a track from their canon and then nominate a modern artist to cover it. This has resulted in some wonderfully unique pairings, such as Duffy's soulful slant on the classic Wings track 'Live And Let Die'.

Elsewhere on the album Elbow record a version of the U2 track 'Running To Stand Still' while Hot Chip rework the Joy Division anthem 'Transmission'. Dance to the radio, indeed!

Guy Garvey of Elbow commented: "War Child do exactly what it says on the tin. These kids shouldn't be in such circumstances in the first place, but they are, so thank god someone's doing something about it."

One of the most fascinating musical projects of the year, 'Heroes' is set to be released on February 16th. Full tracklisting is as follows:
