Velvet Revolver Look For Singer

Slash Continues Search

American rock gods Velvet Revolver are on the search for a new singer, with legendary guitarist Slash giving a new interview describing the audition process.

Velvet Revolver grew from the ashes of iconic rock group Guns 'N' Roses, who jettisoned the bulk of their original line up in the early 90s. After years in wilderness, these musicians re-emerged in 2002 with Stone Temple Pilots' singer Scott Weiland fronting the new band.

Weiland was sacked earlier this year, leaving the group to search once again for a new singer. In a new interview with US magazine Rolling Stone, Slash revealed that "we’ve been writing this whole time, but we’re on this quest for a singer... e spent at that time 10 months listening to 200 singers a week, and chased after Scott, and managed to make that work. We were off and running, but then things fell short and we’re at it again. It’s actually sort of a blessing, because we originally wanted to do something really heavy and it took a different turn, especially on the last record. This time around we’re not going to make any compromises."

Slash had a famously truculent relationship with Guns 'N' Roses frontman Axl Rose, and was asked his opinion on singers. "Singers are a very interesting breed. It’s hard to be choosy when it comes to finding somebody talented enough to be a really great frontman for a rock & roll band. There’s always something that comes along with it, just like with any musician. It’s all worth it if you manage to get those magical moments."
