Twin Shadow Unveils 'To The Top'

It's a power ballad...
Twin Shadow

Twin Shadow - real name George Lewis Jr. - has always had a penchant for the dramatic.

2012's 'Confess' was a superb, sprawling work which seemed to be imbued with a cinematic ambition.

Since then, the songwriter has embarked on the UNDER THE CVRS series, re-working material from the likes of U2 and The Smiths in his own inimitable style.

Completing work on a follow up, new single 'To The Top' is out now. Perhaps Twin Shadow's most complete statement to date, it's an attempt to re-work the power ballad in his own guise.

A soaring, emotional work with a genuine, palpable impact, Lewis introduces the song thus: What is it when you realize that someone isn't right for you? Or when you find that you do not and can not posses someone entirely? You want someone so bad and it feels like hell.

It's not like the first time, once loved love evolves, and you no longer have as much control, and it frustrates you. I think because of this feeling we find ourselves constantly wanting to reset, like new years resolutions, like dreaming up moments from the past where the ending flips on its head, like true forgiveness...We just want to say "wait wait wait, this went too far in the wrong direction, can we try that again."
