Trip hop don Tricky is due to release his new album 'Mixed Race' through Domino on September 27th.

Born in Bristol, Tricky's work is uniquely informed by his surroundings. Frequently autobiographical, the rapper's 2008 album 'Knowle West Boy' was named after the tough council estate where he grew up.

A dense and intimidating work, 'Knowle West Boy' was nonetheless shot through with moments of rare beauty. Reflecting on his childhood, Tricky seemed to find renewed inspiration crafting a refreshing production style.

Signed to Domino, Tricky is preparing to release his second album through the label. 'Mixed Race' is set to be released on September 27th, and follows last year's lavish re-issue of debut album 'Maxinquaye'.

His ninth studio album to date, Tricky left behind Bristol for Paris where he began recording last year. Perhaps his most direct statement to date, the rapper takes his inspiration from across cultural barriers.

Mixing electronica with Jamaican dancehall, African rhythms and even a touch of Gallic culture 'Mixed Race' is an exploration of different styles and ideals. At times hard hitting, the album benefits from Tricky's wealth of experience.

Joining the Bristol born star on the new album are guest singers such as Terry Lynn, Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, Hakim Hamadouche, Blackman and Tricky’s brother, Marlon Thaws who’s the thirteenth of fourteen siblings.

Lead single 'Murder Weapon' is a typically dark return. Tricky's whispered intonations float over some hard beats, with the producer pushing his sound into new territories.
