Trent Reznor vs Record Label

After re-issue project...

Trent Reznor has lashed out at his old record label and advised fans not to buy a recent re-issue.

Trent Reznor remains his own man. After leading Nine Inch Nails for two decades the songwriter has proved his worth countless times, releasing some seminal material in the process.

Recently making an Oscar winning divergence into the world of film soundtracks, Trent Reznor is still ferociously protective of the Nine Inch Nails legacy. The band's Stateside label have launched a re-issue of 1989's 'Pretty Hate Machine' but Reznor feels the edition doesn't go far enough.

Launching his Twitter page, the songwriter wrote: "NIN fans, don't waste your money on this version of PHM that was just released." Continuing, the songwriter labelled the re-issue as "... a record label bullshit move repackaging the old version. Ignore please."

This is far from the first time that Trent Reznor has had a run in with a record label. During a tour of Australia the songwriter paid a visit to local record shops and noticed that Nine Inch Nails were priced at an eye wateringly high $35.

Firing off a missive, Trent Reznor managed to get then-label Interscope to lower the price for Australian fans.

Bringing things up to date, the songwriter is working on a new soundtrack. Having scooped an Oscar for 'The Social Network' Trent Reznor is now focussing on 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'.

Recording new material for the soundtrack, a red band trailer leaked in May featuring Trent Reznor and Karen O kicking out the jams on a feral version of 'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin.

The trailer was swiftly removed by Sony, but not before fans got a tantalising glimpse of the soundtrack.

'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' will be released later this year.
