'The Social Network' due out this year

Former Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor is set to score the upcoming movie about the founding of Facebook.

Social networking has been a very quiet revolution. All of a sudden, former class mates were re-united, relationships were kick started and old friends fell out over mis-communicated status updates.

The most popular social networking platform on the web, Facebook has enjoyed a meteoric rise. A new documentary aims to capture the essence of the phenomenon, with music from Trent Reznor.

Yep, that Trent Reznor. Industrial godhead and all round social networking fanatic, the one time Nine Inch Nails leader had intended to take the year off after a lengthy farewell tour last year.

However the lure of soundtrack work has proved too strong. In a message to fans Trent Reznor explained that he was working on music for the Facebook documentary 'The Social Network'.

"David Fincher started inquiring about my interest in scoring his upcoming film, The Social Network. Yeah, the movie about the founding of Facebook" he explained.

"I’ve always loved David’s work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story. When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned. Atticus Ross and I have been on a creative roll so I asked him if he wanted to work on this with me and we signed on."

"Months later, I’m happy to tell you we’re nearing the completion of this and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out. The level of excellence that David operates on is inspiring and the entire process has been challenging and truly enjoyable."
