Trent Reznor Nominated For Oscar
'The Social Network' recognised
Trent Reznor has been nominated for an Academy award in recognition of his work on 'The Social Network'.
Leaving Nine Inch Nails behind, Trent Reznor has thrown himself into numerous projects. Teaming up with Atticus Ross, the pair were charged with scoring the acclaimed film 'The Social Network'.
A pastiche of sorts, the film was loosely based on the rise of Facebook. Given his penchant for social networking industrial icon Trent Reznor was an unlikely yet perhaps appropriate choice for the role.
In the end, the soundtrack perfectly matched 'The Social Network' with both receiving enormous praise. Recently Trent Reznor carried away a Golden Globe for 'Best Original Score - Motion Picture' and celebrated in typical style.
Firing up his Twitter account the songwriter said simply: "Holy shit!"
The ceremony is usually seen as a precursor to the Academy awards, raising hopes for an Oscar.
The nominations for the Academy awards have been revealed, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross named once more in 'Best Original Score'.
The highest award in the film industry, the pair are up against some tough competition. John Powell is recognised for 'How to Train Your Dragon' while composer Alexandre Desplat's work on 'The King's Speech' is also given its due.
AR Rahman is once again nominated, this time for his work on '127 Hours'. The composer also worked on the original score for 'Slumdog Millionaire' which of course turned M.I.A. into a bona fide chart success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Rounded out by Hans Zimmer's work on 'Inception' the category is as usual fiercely contested. Will Trent Reznor waltz away with an Oscar? Time will tell...
The Academy awards take place on February 27th.
