The classics never really age.
Perhaps that's why, when discussing influences, Jodie Marie and Samuel Taylor returned to the same names, the same songwriters.
Drawing on folk, country, blues, soul and more, the duo quickly immersed themselves in this gilded era. Crafting their own material, Taylor And Marie have a deeply independent spirit, one which acknowledges the past while refusing to be tied down by it.
New EP 'The Tilt The Moon' features their blossoming chemistry, with the duo aiming at keeping things simple. "They're honest songs" explains Samuel Taylor, "we aren't trying to be retro or vintage but the songs that speak to us are classic and heartfelt and that is what we are trying to be as well."
Try 'All I Need'. Simple unaffected songwriting, it's pastoral acoustic fare matched to some deft country flections.
