Track Of The Day 30/10 - Darlia

Napalm
Darlia

Darlia are barely out of their teens, yet already the band have managed to attract a slew of label executives to their Blackpool hometown.

Perhaps it's their live performances, exhibiting the sort of no-holds-barred energy that only those young enough to not know any better can possess. Perhaps it's the mature, assured way in which the band have made the leap into the studio, retaining that visceral edge in the process.

Or perhaps it's just their damn hooks: choruses which tug at your earlobes, middle eights which seem to bubble out of your subconscious at odd hours of the day and night.

Whatever. All we know - if, indeed, we can said to know anything - is that Darlia have caused a right royal shit storm and there are no signs of it blowing over. Dates have been secured and contracts signed, with new EP 'Knock Knock' detonating this week.

As a preview, Clash is able to bring our readers the first play of Darlia's new video. On record, 'Napalm' is a catchy, contagious piece of bouncy garage punk, before erupting into a throat scorching chorus which wouldn't sound out of place on 'Bleach'.

The video keeps things simple - shot in black and white, it's a stylish counterpart to the wild energy of the Blackpool hoodlums.

Watch it now.
