Pop's vision of love is helplessly narrow.
Mainly focussing on those early days of passion and those final days of sorrow, pop has managed to miss out what actually makes a relationship work. Sure, it's not glamorous but the facets, the finely honed details of a relationship are often the things with most meaning.
Kathryn Williams has decided to tackle this head on. New singe 'Heart Shaped Stone' focusses on the subtler ways in which a relationship operates, in which two people can work together.
"A lot of what I do is about the idea of a relationship and how reality impacts on that... Like the idea of a happy ending. The princess marries the prince but carry that story on 15 years…"
Out on August 5th, Clash has obtained the first play of Kathryn Williams' new video. Written whilst looking out over Brighton beach, the clip for 'Heart Shaped Stone' finds the English songwriter walking alone along the endless sands.
