The Irish Sea doesn't take long to cross.
If you get the ferry, then the journey can be made in a few hours – enough time to soak up some sea air, or stay in the bar for a handy pint of Guinness.
For Delorentos though, it's taken rather longer to cross. Renowned in their native Ireland, the band have yet to replicate that success in the UK – until now, that is.
The group's new album 'Night Becomes Light' will be released on September 2nd, and it's a bold, mature document, one informed by lengthy spells on the road.
Delorentos explain: "We wrote the album between trips to the US, Russia, and Europe and recorded with Rob Kirwan, in his little loft studio, with its giant grand piano. It was a great experience working with Rob, who was also producing Hozier’s debut album at the time. As we were leaving the studio after a week’s recording, he’d be arriving in with his guitar on his back, or vice versa."
The band are unafraid to tackle Big Topics – 'Dublin Love Song' looks at the homeless crisis in the Irish capital – and this is definitely evident on 'Fits'.
Literate, emotive songwriting, that surging chorus expertly pulls at your heartstrings. Get involved below.
