Straight from the pebbly Brighton shore comes Phoria – Trewin, Ed, Jeb, Seryn and Tim.
The five-piece pinpoints its sound as "electronica, post-rock, and alternative progressive rock".
They’re not a new group as such, as their roots can be traced back to 1997. It was then, at primary school, that Trewin and Ed started learning the cello and violin together.
And the outfit have been busy recently, creating their new EP ‘Bloodworks’. Drawn from said upcoming release, ‘Scopes’ slots soaring melodies that reach metaphysical levels next to off-kilter drumming.
Channeling fluidity and warmth, the track calls to mind progressive rock greats such as Mew and Carpark North.
This is music to stare at swirling images of the galaxy to, contemplating your insignificant existence on this planet…
