The term 'bedroom producer' is a little misleading.
Sure, there's a difference in scale between a high end studio boffin and a DIY exploration, but in modern terms the divide is growing shorter by the day. Improvements in technology mean that - for all intents and purposes - the vast majority of producers are bedroom boffins.
James Chapman certainly is. Using the alter ego Maps the English producer is able to craft something personal, something intimate yet also readily accessible. Third album 'Vicissitude' will be released later this year, with new single 'A.M.A.' certainly doing enough to whet our appetite.
Tightly wound post-punk bass, whispered vocals and clattering synths, this is electronic music with a very humane persona. Out now, the single comes equipped with a number of remixes.
Clash are lucky enough to be able to premiere The Invisible's take on 'A.M.A.' - soothing waves of digital production, the London group weigh in with a piece heavy on ambience and blissful vibes.
Listen to it now.
The Invisible remix appears on the 12 inch vinyl version of 'A.M.A.' - pre-order link.
