Track Of The Day 24/1 – Plants And Animals

In Association With Cheap Monday...

Plants And Animals have built a world of their own.

Fourth album 'Waltzed In From The Rumbling' emerged last year on Secret City Records, a work of striking independence.

The music just keeps flowing at their Montreal base, with the band recently releasing new EP 'Passed Out From The Waltzing'.

Essentially a collection of B-sides relating to their recent album, it's a mark of the intensity of their work that the quality is so high.

Available now, Plants And Animals have shot a new clip for spiralling new track 'Green Eyes'. Tender, emotive songwriting, the musical maturity is matched to a vocal performance weighed down with pleading innocence.

Plants And Animals explain: "This song is a freefall. It's a body tumbling and flapping in the wind, pulled hard by gravity, no bottom to be found. I think the lyrics are some of the best Warren has written. He said they just came out. So he brought in the words and that cascading chord cycle, and there was little discussion before we all played it. It just came out. We played for each other and for ourselves too. It's a catharsis. It ends up on the ground. And the landing, somehow, is soft."
