Christmas is a unique time of year.
Chock full of Christmas spirit, music fans across the country tend to lose all sense of direction and begin donning Santa hats for a quick burst of ‘Gangnam Style’.
It affects musicians, too. Paul McCartney’s festive single ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ is reviled in some quarters – no doubt through being overplayed – but on closer inspection it remains a fairly harmless piece of Advent fare.
Resurrected year on year, it’s something which bound to cause a singalong at any office Christmas party. Which is perhaps which Dog Is Dead chose to cover it. Spending the bulk – no exaggeration – of 2012 on the road, the band are eager to kick up their heels this Christmas.
Taking a break, the Nottingham have posted a new cover as a festive thank you to fans who have supported them. A straight strum through ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ it’s a fun, affectionate salute to one of life’s rather more gluttonous pleasures.
