Track Of The Day 20/1 - Highasakite

Since Last Wednesday
Highasakite

Fluid, that's Highasakite.

The Norwegian group are able to advance and evolve, with each performance infusing their sound with a rippling, jazz-like aesthetic. Somewhere between folk and pop, electronics and indie songcraft, the group are fast becoming a cult success in the United States.

Bon Iver's Justin Vernon caught the band performing at Oya festival, and immediately began praising them to anyone who will listen.

Fresh from performing at the Norwegian version of the BRIT Awards, a confident, ambitious Highasakite are focussing on their next step.

New single 'Leaving No Trace' is an entrancing, hypnotic piece which focusses on an ever-circulating riff. By turns joyous and maudlin, it's an intriguing return, one which emphasises the complexity, the sheer poetry of their songcraft.

Set to be released on March 3rd through Propeller Recordings, but ahead of this Clash is able to offer up something different.

'Since Last Wednesday' is a highlight of the band's set, and this acoustic clip finds Highasakite carefully toying with the arrangement. Simply executed, it's a wonderful re-working which helps shed new light on the band's influences
