London-based brothers Tom and Nick Shirm have never been ashamed of their influences.
Accepting inspiration wherever it lands, the pair concoct huge slabs of future soul, a boogie-laden series of frisky disco cuts.
“We wanted to really make Earth, Wind and Fire style music,” says Tom. “We’d listen to their live album in the car all the time and we guess it just stayed with us; the massive arrangements, big sounds, that and Rod Temperton, who wrote the majority of the records from ‘Off The Wall’”.
Uniting as Goldsmoke, the pair have delivered a number of fantastic, floor-filling cuts, landing praise from pop fans and vital DJs alike.
New single 'Like This' underlines the sheer potency of their approach, with the soaring music working alongside lyrics that speak to betrayal and regret.
The duo tell Clash: "'Like This' is about getting caught with someone else in a bar, it's the brutal breakup after being caught cheating.”
