Electronic music often doesn't translate to the live environment.
Steeped in egalitarian club culture, the notion of electronic music as a performance often falls flat. A few artists, though, are helping to turn expectations on their head.
Robert DeLong is an innovative, inventive producer - but aside from his studio work, the beatsmith seems to relish the live arena. Using all manner of gadgets, gizmos and joy sticks, this an audio / visual feast with a real sense of imagination.
Breezing into SXSW earlier this year - traditionally an event dominated by guitar bands - Robert DeLong left tongues wagging. Completing a blistering series of shows, the producer is set to release a flood of new material across the summer.
New single 'Global Concepts' will be released on June 24th, with debut album 'Just Movement' set to follow this summer.
Ahead of this, ClashMusic are able to offer you an exclusive preview. 'Perfect' opens with synths that are reminiscent of a church bell tolling, before a looped vocal sample comes spiralling out of the speakers. Buoyant, fun, electro production with a pop edge, this is the sort of thing which could demolish the festival season.
