Home is where the heart is. Kids In Glass Houses have spent the bulk of the past seven years either on the road or in the studio.
Releasing three highly successful albums, the band decided to get back to their roots when sculpting new material. The band based themselves in Iain Mahanty’s house, working from the ground up on a fresh batch of songs.
Re-connecting with what made them want to form a band in the first place, Kids In Glass Houses honed in on the art of the perfect single.
"The approach to this record was to do something in the vein of what we used to do, where we focused on writing singles, as on ‘Smart Casual’ and ‘Dirt’," Aled Phillips explains. "Then again, it’s as experimental as the last album, but instead of making one big, sprawling album we tried to make each song as catchy and memorable as possible."
However alongside this Kids In Glass Houses have recorded an alternate version of 'Peace'. The 'downbeat' re-working features a glacial, subtle approach, retaining the essential structure of those pop songs but with a tender heart.
Clash is able to bring you the 'downbeat' re-envisioning of 'Peace' before anyone else - listen to it below.
