Skinny Living maintain an exhausting schedule.
The Wakefield band are almost continuously on the road, playing show after lung-bursting show.
Somehow, in-between all this, the group also manage to find time to write a song or two - in fact, they're one of the most prolific bands out there.
New EP 'VI' EP out now, and it finds Skinny Living stretching themselves once again, an immediate return that is packed with depth.

This song is the deepest we have gone so far. The vocal for this was captured on the day of writing and it holds a lot of emotion, we tried to capture it on a few other occasions with better equipment but just couldn't get the same emotion so we stuck with the first take.
Writing this song felt very natural and finding the words to create a really visual yet relatable experience for anyone listening was almost therapeutic. The piano and cinematic sounds in the production took us in a different direction to anything we have done before and it feels like the right move to bring across the energy of the song.
This one was born out of taxi ride to the studio! The driver played a song from his home country and we had a good chat about letting go of worries. I got out of the taxi and walked about 5minutes to the studio, on the way I whistled a melody that felt uplifting and took it into the session. This was one of those magic moments where the song was written in just a few hours and every single word made me feel something! We recorded this version live at Distiller Studios and it's great to have a a few tracks on this EP recorded like that
Let Me In
One of our earliest songs was written in Will's parents' house. He was talking about this new riff idea for a few days and when we sat down to listen to it the words just fell out. It felt sad but hopeful and the story in the lyric felt like it really matched the sound. The lyric addresses an all to familiar subject of being hurt in love and finding it hard to love or trust again.
If Loves Enough
We've spent quite a few weeks over the last couple of years recording with Jake Gosling at his place Sticky Studios. It's a really tranquil place and we had this idea of writing a song about the effects of modern life on love. We wrote this one and a few others with Jake. It always feels slightly uncomfortable using a well known and strong word in a lyric that describes something so current, sometimes it can feel quite cold but in this song it feels like it really paints the picture of how things can be these days
