Tom Vek Returns
Second album finally confirmed
Tom Vek is set to release his long awaited second album 'Leisure Seizure' this summer.
Well, well... releasing his debut album 'We Have Sound' back in 2005 Tom Vek became one of Britain's most hyped newcomers. Written and largely recorded in a garage, the album matched inventive production to an addictive synth-pop style.
Leagues ahead of competitors, Tom Vek seemed destined to score massive success. However the songwriter never quite got the credit he deserved, with 'We Have Sound' becoming one of the decade's great lost albums.
Retreating from the limelight, sessions for a proposed second album stretched on until fans began to give up hope. Now, nearly six years after his debut dropped, Tom Vek has confirmed a blast of new material.
Reports emerged yesterday (April 11th) after a Twitter feed was started which apparently belonged to the singer. Announcing news of a second album, the statement was then officially confirmed.
NME reports that Tom Vek will release his second album 'Leisure Seizure' later this year. An official release date is not given, but comeback single 'A Chore' is set to premiere on Radio 1 next week.
Zane Lowe has been given the exclusive first play of the track, with 'A Chore' set to be unveiled next Monday (April 18th).
In a Tweet to fans the ever enthusiastic New Zealander confirmed the news: "Tom Vek is back! New album 'Leisure Seizure'. New single, 'A Chore' first play next Monday at 7:30pm on R1. We are very happy about this."
A clip of the single has emerged online, with the Amazon listing for 'A Chore' containing a thirty second soundbite. To listen to it click HERE.
