Singer wants to play festival
Legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones has given Glastonbury organisers an urgent plea to play the Somerset event.
From his early days on the British soul scene, to his years as a pop maker then finally his famous Las Vegas performances Tom Jones has remained the epitome of showbiz.
The singer played the Glastonbury festival in 1992, and apparently loved his time there so much he is desperate to return. Speaking to the London Paper, Jones said "I'd love to perform there again and if the timing was right, I'd be there."
"I last appeared at Glastonbury in the early '90s and it was fantastic. Even the weather was good. The sun was shining and I had a ball."
"I remember two guys in the crowd had this big banner up on a pole and it just said, 'Tom fucking Jones'. I thought it would make a great T-shirt."
Glastonbury has a tradition of asking older acts to open the ceremony, with last year's event kicking off with Shakin' Stevens.
There has been no reaction from the festival organisers as yet, with proposed headliners being kept strictly under wraps.
