Tim Hecker is set to release new album 'Virgins' in October.
Clearly failing to recognise genre boundaries when he sees them, Tim Hecker's work is difficult to predict yet continually enthralling. Previous album 'Ravedeath, 1972' won a prestigious Juno award, marking some form of acceptance from the mainstream musical community.
Time for a chance, then. New album 'Virgins' was recorded across three periods last year, mostly in Reykjavik, Montreal and Seattle, using ensembles in live performance.
Mixed by Valgeir Sigurðsson and Tim Hecker with additional assistance by Randall Dunn and Ben Frost, the record shifts away from digital territories towards the fluctuations of the analogue world.
Recorded primarily in intimate rooms, it seeks to retain that eloquent, painterly touch which marked Hecker's earlier work.
