Jamie xx has revealed that The xx have begun the process of writing their third album.
The xx are something... well, special. Returning with their second album, the band decided that the traditional modes of touring - Academy venues, arenas - simply wasn't for them.
Bringing their Night + Day events to cities across Europe, the group oversaw an eclectic array of new music which culminated in headline performances from The xx themselves.
Now the band have begun to focus on new music. As Consequence of Sound report, Jamie xx recently spoke to Swedish festival website Festivalrykten and revealed that The xx had begun to work on fresh material.
"We are working on some new songs right now, we have a couple of demos and some sounds. After finishing this tour, we will be doing some separate things, I'll produce and DJ, but we will get back together after New Year's and start recording our third album."
The statements match those made by Oliver Sim earlier this year, telling Billboard that the group were recording on-the-road demos. "Romy's voice has grown a lot, just from singing every day", he said. "I hear it and it’s beautiful to hear."
