The Who Charity Donation

Band Help City Of Detroit

Mod legends The Who are still packing in the crowds, and will make a sizeable donation to charity by giving away the proceeds of an up and coming gig in Detroit.

The band, whose 40 year story is one of rock's true epics, have made a statement on their website announcing that the proceed from a forthcoming gig in Detroit will be given to charity.

Lead singer Roger Daltrey said that "The first gig we ever played in the U.S. was in Detroit and we have always had an affinity with this part of the country". The legendary vocalist went on to say that The Palace of Auburn Hills on October 21st would benefit the Gleaners Food Bank and Focus: HOPE charities.

"Pete and I are very aware of the problems people are having in Michigan and feel we should give something back for all the support we have had over the last 40 years". Detroit and the surrounding area is one of the most under-priveliged regions of the US, still struggling to recover from the loss of the once prominent American automobile industry.

The Who will play The Palace of Auburn Hills on October 21st.

The Who has always been a

The Who has always been a very charitable band, I was at the front row when they played at live 8 and they were fantastic! I also saw Pete Townshend at a Boat Donation event once. I hear they are writing another album which I can’t wait for.
