Weekend draws to a close...

The Stone Roses helped to bring V Festival to a close last night (August 19th) with a triumphant headline set.

Well, that's it all over for another year. Thousands of fans made the journey to V Festival at the weekend, flooding both sites with music fans.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds drew a massive crowd to the Virgin Media Stage, and the songwriter was on typically mischievous form. Performing at the Chelmsford site, the crowd began chanting "Where's Liam? Where's Liam?"

Not missing a beat, Noel Gallagher joked about The Stone Roses headline performance. "Where's Ian?" he asked the crowd. "He's backstage".

The Stone Roses were on typically imperious form, with the band performing at both sites. The legendary Manchester outfit closed the Staffordshire site last night (August 19th) with a set which drew on their iconic debut album.

Introducing 'Made Of Stone' the frontman said: "A lot of you weren't born when we wrote these songs, but this is the sound of the unemployed."

Ending with 'I Am The Resurrection' the band left the stage to the sound of Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song' before fireworks lit up the sky.
