The Residents Confirm London Show

Oh... and a $100,000 box set

The Residents have confirmed plans to take their Wonder of Weird tour to London for a one off show.

Way before punk, before post-punk, No Wave and Industrial… there was The Residents. One of the most – ahem – unique groups in the history of pop music, The Residents have carved out their own unique space in the world for four decades.

Still an ongoing concern, the band recently slimmed down to a trio and kicked off the World of Weird tour. Now the band have outlined plans for an extremely rare British show. Taking place at the Barbican on May 18th, we won't cheapen The Residents by second guessing their plans – there is literally no point going into this show with any preconceptions.

Elsewhere, the perennial absurdists have confirmed plans for a career spanning box set. From the press release: "On sale on Christmas Day for the princely sum of $100,000, the box set is packaged in a 28 cubic-foot refrigerator containing releases spanning the group's entire career. The UBS holds well over 100 different products including 40 vinyl LPs, 50 CDs, and dozens of singles, EPs, DVDs, and CD-roms plus other releases. Thanks to the group's diligence in archiving their releases over the years, there are no re-pressings in the UBS – each of the products is an original first pressing. In addition to this vast array of music products, each box set will also contain one of The Residents' signature eyeball-with-top-hat masks."

Well, quite… here's a video preview for the box set.
