2012 winners unveiled
AIM Awards 2012

The Prodigy, Enter Shikari, Edwyn Collins and more emerged with trophies at last night's AIM Awards.

A body designed to promote and celebrate British independent music, AIM (Association of Independent Music, doncha know) host an annual bash in London, designed to showcase the very best in new music.

Taking place at the Brewery in Clerkenwell, London last night (October 29th) the ceremony featured live performances from Frankie and the Heartstrings, Big Deal and Land Observations. Hosted by Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq, big winners included The Prodigy (Best Liver Act) and Enter Shikari (Best Independent Album).

Elsewhere, Best Independent Label went to 4AD while alt-j took home Independent Breakthrough of the Year. Adele has enjoyed a record breaking 12 months, and her success was recognised with the PPL Award for Most Played Independent Act.

CEO of AIM Alison Wenham commented: “Our second awards has marked a stellar year for the independent sector - congratulations to all the nominees and winners! This list of winners is like no other, and truly reflects the breadth of talent and diversity in the independent sector. A fantastic night was had by all, and we look forward to celebrating further success for the independents in 2013.”
