'THE ORBSERVER in the star house' due out on September 3rd

The Orb and Lee 'Scratch' Perry have teamed up to work on a full length album together.
The Orb have long been advocates of Jamaican production, regularly making intergalactic expeditions across the universe of dub. Now the group have confirmed plans to release a new album, their first full length collaboration with Lee 'Scratch' Perry.
A true genius, Lee 'Scratch' Perry joined The Orb in the studio to work on a series of tracks. Bringing his wealth of experience and unpredictable touch to proceedings, the collaboration was apparently kicked off back in 2004.
Dr Paterson DJ'd alongside Lee 'Scratch' Perry, with the pair discussing new musical ideas. Heading into the studio, the Jamaican producer's sheer creativity seemingly dislodged something inside The Orb.
“I met Lee for the first time during this session and it was pretty touching to see how an unexpected connection and inspirational exchange could so awaken our creative juices. Alex and I had never made so much new music on the spot before" Thomas Fehlman said.
"It was soon pretty clear that we wouldn't get far with the four backing tracks we pre-produced for the session. Lee was so overwhelmingly creative that it took an afternoon for those to be finished. From then on we were forced to come up with new beats on the spot, to keep him in the flow.”
Continuing, Fehlman said: “He was constantly active, referring to the tunes we were working on and hitting bits of wood or stone to create percussion patterns, so we ended up using field recordings of him banging on bits and pieces".
'THE ORBSERVER in the star house' is set to be released on September 3rd. Here's a preview below.
