The National Cancel Turkish Show

Due to escalating violence...
The National

The National have decided to postpone a show in Istanbul due to escalating violence.

The ongoing violence in Turkey has been reported around the globe, with news bulletins filling up with images of protestors battling riot police. With the state vowing to re-inforce control, it sadly seems inevitable that the violence we have witnessed thus far will only increase.

Currently in the middle of a European tour, The National were set to play Istanbul on June 23rd but have decided to postpone this show. Posting a message online, the band said: "We're sad to report that our Istanbul show has been cancelled. We support the right to peaceful protest and hope that excessive violence by riot police ends quickly. #direngeziparki"

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale now for a surprise one off show in London. The National are set to play the Roundhouse on June 26th, with Local Natives tagging along for a support slot.

The band's UK itinerary now reads:

June
26 London Roundhouse

November
9 Belfast Odyssey Arena
10 Dublin O2 Arena
11 Manchester O2 Apollo
12 Manchester O2 Apollo
13 London Alexandra Palace
14 London Alexandra Palace
