the-Dream vs The Weeknd

Social network beef erupts

the-Dream and The Weeknd seem to have fallen out on Twitter.

Ah, the world of the hip hop beef. Drake and Common kept us entertained during the dark months of January, and now the-Dream and The Weeknd are set to follow suit.

During a recent set at New York venue S.O.B.’s on Sunday night, the-Dream made comments about male R&B singers “that sound like me”. Word of these statements reached The Weeknd, who embarked on an epic – if at times surreal – Twitter rant.

“ham burglar lookin’ ass nigga…” he wrote, before adding: “all i need are my brothers and my fans… fuck the bullshit”.

The Weeknd continued by saying: “this nigga is so hood, he thinks my name is the weekender…” and then adding, “i was raised old fashioned, you get at me, i get at you… ain’t no sideways shit about it…”

Playing a second New York show, the-Dream arrived at home late to find a screed of Tweet awaiting him. Opening his Twitter account, the rapper de-fused the beef by letting the love flow across social networks.

“Like my father said. Say ur piece son if a man feel uncomfortable enough a cheat, and a liar will identify his self. Amen. Now I know 4 Sure” he wrote, before saying: “I said I was Honest not petty. Joke all you want. Grown Man.”

Continuing, the-Dream wrote: “Love killed Hate. I’m going to support the movement where if u can’t say it in person don’t say it. Nothing but love from here lil homie” before finishing, “Now ima leave it at that. Ill call ya phone if you wanna chop it up or if you feel a way.”

the-Dream later returned to his Twitter feed, writing: “But as my mother would Don’t Take my Sweetness for a Weakness!”

Amen to that brother.
