The Dirtbombs are set to release 'bubblegum pop' influenced album 'Ooey Gooey Chewy Ka-Blooey!' later this year.
Blame The Beatles. When the Fab Four hit home, Tin Pan Alley was faced with a clear choice: evolve, or wither on the pop music vine.
They chose the latter. Adapting to include new techniques, new sounds and new effects, the 'Bubblegum Pop' industry was developed, with producers such as Kasenetz-Katz and Don Kirschner leading the way.
Renowned record hoarder and all round garage rock kingpin, Mick Collins is set to make good on his long voiced promise to honour the era. Working with The Dirtbombs, the group will release bubblegum homage 'Ooey Gooey Chewy Ka-Blooey!' on September 16th.
Two years in the making, the album features entirely new material written in the bubblegum style. New cut 'Crazy For You' has emerged online and - whilst The Dirtbombs trademark sound is evident - it's a smoothed out, sugar-sweet edition.
Listen to it now.
