The Clash To Re-Issue London Calling
Classic album reaches milestone
Legendary British punks The Clash are set to re-release their classic album 'London Calling'.
The Clash are pretty much the perfect group, one where the chemistry between each of its four members is matched by the individual writing talent of the musicians involved.
Frontman Joe Strummer became a punk icon, virtually inventing Green Day thirty years before 'American Idiot'. Mick Jones loved to experiment, bringing on board hip hop and reggae influences.
Paul Simonon aided the group's visual appeal, as well as rooting his bass playing in dub styles. Hell, even drummer Topper Headon got in on the act crafting the band's biggest chart hit with 'Rock The Casbah'.
Now The Clash are due to re-release perhaps their finest moment. Released in December 1979 'London Calling' became the group's defining statement, a perfect blend of punk fury and their own willingness to try something new.
Over the course of two discs the band somehow managed to blend punk, reggae, bar room jazz and much more. Containing the iconic title track, 'London Calling' remains inspirational listening thirty years on.
Re-released in time to celebrate its 30th birthday, we in the Clash office are huge fans. In fact, an early issue was devoted to the album's 25th anniversary - oh how time flies!
Containing a host of extras, it is not known at this time what bonus material will be included alongside the now legendary 'London Calling' tracklisting.
The Clash are due to re-release 'London Calling' on December 14th.
