T In The Park To Move To Strathallan Castle

Scotland's biggest festival starts flittin'...

Scotland's biggest music festival, T In The Park is set to return to its Balado home later this year.

However this will be the last time the festival does so. Earlier this week, rumours circulated that the event was due to move location, with issues surrounding an oil pipeline running under the Balado site cited as a major factor.

Now organisers have confirmed that this is the case. T In The Park will close their Balado site this year, before moving to a fresh location at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire in 2015.

Chief executive officer Geoff Ellis mourned the loss of their Balado hub, but explained that he was "absolutely thrilled" to be taking the festival to Strathallan Castle.

In a statement, Geoff Ellis said: "We've had 18 tremendous years at Balado, but now we're moving on to pastures new – this time with a castle overlooking the site. We already loved Strathallan Castle and had been hoping to host an event there for many years."

"When it became clear we'd need to leave Balado to safeguard the future of the festival, we became very excited about the prospect of Strathallan becoming the new home for T in the Park. We thought it would be perfect, and it is."
