Strokes Man Solo Show

Nickel Eye Make New York Debut

Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture has unveiled his solo project before a hometown audience as Nickel Eye performed at CMJ on October 22nd.

Nickel Eye is a laid back, acoustic led project from the Strokes star. Whilst more Americana in tone than the skinny tie revivalists, it has traces of that New York new wave sound. The band have played only a handful of shows, and the CMJ Music Marathon date is the band's first in their home city.

Fraiture performed the show backed by members of the British indie group South, who flew in from London especially for the show. Taking place in the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, the gig was apparently a huge success.

Nickel Eye have recorded a debut album, 'Time Of The Assassins', which is set for release early next year. Strokes fans fear not: Fraiture has already promised that the band intend to write and record a new album next year.

Nickel Eye will release their new album 'The Time Of Assassins' on January 27th.
