'Codex' gets re-worked

Canadian producer deadmau5 has delivered a sample free cover of the Radiohead track 'Codex'.

In the red corner: Radiohead are one of the most critically acclaimed groups on the planet, a band's whose output has consistently been reinvented to incorporate avant garde elements within an emotive framework.

In the blue corner: deadmau5 is a hugely controversial Canadian producer, whose enormous profile seems to bring with it equal amounts of praise and criticism.

So when deadmau5 decides to cover Radiohead, you can be sure that the knives are out. Deciding to tackle 'Codex' from recent album 'The King Of Limbs' the producer opted against using any samples of the original. (via SPIN)

Completely recreating 'Codex' deadmau5 seems to soak the piano laden lament in honey. Playing it straight, the heavily distorted vocal sounds / melody line add an affecting, claustrophobic air missing from much of his original material.
