Stones Throw Documentary Due

'Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton'

Film maker Jeff Broadway is working on a new film about legendary hip hop stable Stones Throw.

Founded in 1996 by Peanut Butter Wolf, Stones Throw has always trod its own path. The label has grown and evolved over the years, with its stature as a hub for pioneering new music coming via releases from J Dilla, Guilty Simpson, MF DOOM and more.

Now film maker Jeff Stenway is attempting to tell the full story of the label. Sifting through reams of archive footage, photographs and interviews the director is preparing what could well be the ultimate document for Stones Throw fans.

Seemingly, production began in late 2010 when French company MediaTV sent Paris-based filmmakers Sébastien Bauer and Lucas Blaya to Los Angeles to begin filming events for the label’s 15th anniversary. Gathering huge amounts of footage, Broadway then became involved to steer the documentary which has now been titled 'Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton'.

A Kickstarter page has been set up for 'Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton'. Still in production, the team estimate that they require around $35,000 to bring the film to a close. Click HERE to find out more.
